With effect from January 1st, 2026, the following rules apply to all golfing events organised by the Magistrates’ Golfing
Society:
Rule 1:
Members and their guests wishing to compete at the Society’s
Meetings must be a member of a recognised golf club or have
an official ‘WHS’ handicap, but others may enter and play but
not be eligible to win.
The maximum WHS Handicap Index for both Men and Ladies is 54. Only Magistrates and Guests with a WHS Handicap Index
issued by England Golf are entitled to win prizes, and only
Magistrates with a WHS Handicap Index can take home the
‘Silverware’.
The Society’s Meetings are not qualifying events for the
purposes of handicap adjustment, and therefore there is no
requirement to ‘putt out’ if you cannot score on a particular
hole.
Rule 2:
In the event of their being a separate competition for Veterans
(Over 70 at the beginning of January each year), only one
Trophy can be claimed by the Winner. The Gold or Silver
Division Trophy will take precedence, and the Veterans Trophy
will be passed to the ‘next in line’.
